Really tho Anime and Manga are not really hard and thier for not to much of a challenge. The Faces is were most fail i think. I like Cartoon work but the flooding of the market with the japanamsion has made many artists lazy it seems. ...ok enuff of my option....
As to Sonic, love the orginal stuff and the Archie series comic and the 1st TV cartoon series. Sonic X was a bit of a let down i feel. And do realistic is a good exercise in details and seeing but photo can do it just as good. I like both cartoon and realism, hand done art impress me more then digital as i know how easy digital is...thier a undo button for one.

If you get a chance check out the Soncic the Hedgehog series from 1993, its voiced by Steve Ercile actor Jaylee White for Sonic. its the series that was on when i was akid with the Archie comics.
Sonic is a great idea but i think in recent years thier loosing what makes sonic fun and cool. I watched Sonic X up to the Space part and just didnt like 'SONIC IN SPACE', i thought it was lame from what they were doing before that point.
Thanks on the realism stuff tho, i try and keep it simple but yet real so you can tell who it is or what it is. I've had 3 years of art schooling now that has helped alot, seeing things and knowing how to fix mistakes or problems.
